1928: Guaranty Laundry
Guaranty Laundry

1928 | 2036 E. 11th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma The Guaranty Laundry warehouse features a rectangular plan with rounded corners and a four-story masonry structure with brick walls. Goff used brick in a similarly decorative manner to enrich the otherwise conventionally designed Guaranty Laundry in 1928. Horizontal bands were interlocked at the entrance, where they were combined with specifically designed light fixtures to form a composition strongly evocative of Dutch work. The emphatic horizontal accent bands create an expression of continuous movement. The sill and lintels are expressed in the brick detailing as protruding bands of soldier courses, stacked three courses high. Originally, the entrance had a series of light fixtures stacked between the horizontal bands flanking the entrance door, and the cornice corner had been designed as curved; however, this detail was modified during construction. Very regrettably, the entrance door and light fixtures have been removed.
